This is a mint Breedlove Frontier Concert E Mahogany with a hardshell case. I bought it in 2018 and it has been in temperature controlled storage since that time. The Frontier models are part of Breedlove’s high value professional line that are hand-crafted in Bend Oregon
One of the first things you’ll notice about this guitar is the understated, almost simple appearance, with no elaborate inlays, fancy pickguard or intricate bindings. It is quite beautiful, though, with a high gloss finish that gives the body a mirror-like appearance.
The Concert E is an all-solid wood design with a Honduran Mahogany top, back and sides. It features a semi-gloss Mahogany neck with an Ebony fingerboard and bridge, as well as an aged ivoroid binding. I want to add that the fingerboard is flawlessly bookmatched.
Though many people equate a mahogany body with a darker sound, this guitar is very balanced across the tonal spectrum. It also packs a jumbo voice into a concert body, eliminating the compromise between a booming tone and an ergonomically sound instrument. That said, this is no “boom-box”. The LR Baggs EAS-VTC electronics provides a simple vol-tone setup that needs very little tweaking and sounds great.
The Concert E is comfortable to play, feels alive, and produces Breedlove’s “Big Sound”– whatever your playing style or genre of music.
This a premium, pro-level guitar without a lot of expensive cosmetic adornments – which is the only reason it has a modest price tag. I think it’s a great value.
