This is a Godin Multiac 2-Voice SA (Synth Access) Nylon String Guitar, along with a companion Roland GR 30 Synth sound module. If you are shopping around, this is the full system not just the guitar. The quality of this Godin guitar is really first class. The fit and finish are excellent. It does have some light scratches and scuffs I try to capture in the pictures, and a few light marks on the neck, but overall it looks very nice. I’m also including a like new Reunion Blues Deluxe gig bag ($250 Value).
The Godin Multiac SA is well known among session players as a “Swiss Army Knife” that can quickly get them many different sounds. It’s called a “2-Voice” because you can use the RMC Custom bridge transducer/preamp with a three-band EQ and a ¼ cable into an amp or mixing board, or, you can use the built-in 13-pin connector to hook up with a Roland GR-Series synth and other 13-pin devices. It really should be called a “3-voice” because you can also mix the analog and digital sounds together.
One of the first things you’ll notice about the guitar is that it doesn’t feed back.I love that the neck, with a1 7/8″ nut width, is designed like an electric guitar neck: smooth, slim, smooth and fast. It is also one of the few nylon guitars that tunes perfectly all over the fingerboard. It has a warm sound that you can tailor in many different ways with the bass, mid, and treble adjustments using the transducer system.
Where it really comes into its own is with the Roland GR 30 Synth. For example, you can put the nylon string output through one channel of an amp, and then route the synth through another channel for companion sounds such as orchestral strings. Doubling with synth guitar patch you can come up with a cool 12-string sound. Not all the sounds in the synth are suitable, but the ones that are open up a lot of tonal possibilities. Plus, it’s just plain fun to try different combinations.
To sum it up: For almost anything but playing classical this guitar is great. From pop and rock, to worship and smooth jazz, to latino, flamenco, and Brazilian music.
It can cover a lot of ground while sounding great every time.
